And so I started writing books and screenplays about 8 years ago because I wanted to be a part of this beautiful movement of storytellers who are making sure that people of color are no longer being reduced to sidekick or blatant stereotype. There were so many blatant stereotypes and caricatures when it came to the way people of color were and are represented.
